The Old Steps Were Narrow ...
... And Square (Remember Anita Wanted Round Lines).
The Old Stairs Were Easily Removed. Most Of The Design Work Was Done w/ A Spray Can.
The Design Evolved Over Time.
Can You Picture The Concept?
The Forms Were Difficult To Build.
They Required Lots Of Creativity.
We Had Them Run Electrical Conduit Under The Steps To Add Power In The Yard.
They Worked Very Hard To Get The Contour Anita Wanted.
We Removed The Planter Between The Old Steps And The House.
The Form Construction Was Quite A Carpentry Project.
Excess Concrete Was Used To Keep The Boards In Place. Notice The Conduit In The Form?
They Added Boards To Allow The Access When Finishing The Concrete.
They Dug Post Holes Into The Ground The Anchor The Steps And Prevent Them From Sliding Down The Hill.
A Few Holes Were Required.
Looks Like They're Ready For Concrete.
Now You See Why The Yard Project Was Required!
They Started @ The Top ...
... And Worked Their Way To The Bottom Step.
There Was Lots To Do To Fill Every Nook And Cranny.
They Brought In An Extra Guy To Help.
First They Worked To Fill The Form.
Patiently Working Their Way To The Bottom.
The Stairs Took Another Entire Truck Of Concrete.
Looks Like It's Almost Filled.
There's A Lot Of Weight Against The Forms!
There Wasn't Enough Room For Everyone To Contribute.
Not Yet. Got A Little Extra To Fill In Gaps.
The Round Corners Left Blind Spots That Will Have To Be Finished Later.
The Stairs Flow Right Into The Driveway.
We're VERY Pleased With The Outcome.
A GRAND Entrance To Our Home, But ...
... A Pooling Problem That Will Have To Be Fixed Later.
